The New UAS Unit

At the end of 2020, New Braunfels CERT was asked to create a new division to help provide support for the growing unmanned aerial systems (UAS) “drone” teams within the NBFD and NBPD. Drones are being used around the world as an asset for first responders, saving more than 780 lives to date. Because of this, our UAS team was added under the Search & Rescue umbrella to support not only our first responders, but our numerous Search & Rescue efforts as well.

Along with working to acquire drone systems for our team, we also need to fill positions in order to be an effective unit. If you have an interest in drones and how they can help your community, learn more on our UAS Unit page.
