New Braunfels is known for flash flooding and hurricanes. Being properly prepared, and knowing how to deal with situations in emergencies such as these benefit you, your family and your community. The City of New Braunfels Community Emergency Response Team (NBCERT) is seeking individuals willing to volunteer, when called by the city, for support during public events and disasters. CERT is a program that prepares you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors, as well as be a valued resource to the city and to first responders and emergency service agencies.
NBCERT will be providing the FREE FEMA 317 CERT basic training course this coming February. Available to all New Braunfels community members, regardless of interest in being a member of NBCERT, this free course will provide you with three jam-packed days of information including:
- Disaster Preparedness
- CERT Organizational Structure & Processes
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Disaster Psychology
- Fire Safety & Utility Controls

On the last day we’ll have a disaster simulation so you can put into effect everything you’ve learned.
Along with all the valuable information, our trainers provide a fun, engaging and team building environment where questions and conversation are encouraged.
